STATEMENT
I see my paintings and wonder what I am trying to say? What dictates my style? Is it my political views, my love for someone long gone, or the simple love of art? The only thing that I could think of is the "emotion of a single moment" Those broad brush strokes try to tell with vivid colors a quiet emotion that woke up one day and needed to explode onto a canvas so people could see what I felt. Some strokes cry because of a death of a happy memory that will never be born again, others simply call out for my happy nightmares. I wish I could say that Dali or Picasso guide my strokes, which some people claim that I try to imitate, but in reality it is the moment that does that, like a Jazz player following the invisible notes that appear as fast as the imagination can birth them, not knowing the final destination. Painting to me is the most accurate depiction of my story, even though it hides in plain sight, behind the strokes of my brush, which dances nonstop all over the white fabric until the fatigued bristles collapse. But what is important to me it is not that the audience understands my painted journal, but that they see their own journey in my images and comprehend that they are not alone.
